Team Polar Storm

Alongside their own preparation, the Polar Challenge organisation provides thorough training for all participants– designed to equip all competitors with the necessary skills to complete the race and properly prepare them for what challenges they will face. This comprises of a weekends training in the black mountains in Wales which covers use of GPS and a general fitness assessment. This is followed by a week of arctic survival training supervised by ex-Royal Marine officers in Austria; including Polar Bear attack drills, ice breaking techniques, cold weather survival training, equipment familiarisation, nutritional advice, logistics and planning. During this time individuals who did not join the challenge in teams go through the team selection process. A further 5 days training in the arctic prior to the start of the race will be provided by world renowned arctic exploration expert Paul Landry.
